Podcast 111: Spring Inspiration! Books, activities, and everything I'm enjoying this spring

Updated: Apr 13

Hello hello, and welcome to Episode 111 of Life On the Brink!

It’s finally SPRING! This is decidedly my favorite season, and I’m particularly excited for it this year. What with Baby Girl coming in June and lots of home and garden things happening, I feel like this season will be just glorious! Today I'm talking all about my favorite books, recipes, and activities that I'm enjoying this spring season.

What’s in my teacup? An iced green tea latte with Trader Joe’s Brown Sugar Oatmilk Creamer. It’s very reminiscent of a boba milk tea and I love it.

First experience at a tulip farm, just lovely.

BOOKS

-52 Loaves: a Half-Baked Adventure by William Alexander

-Emilie’s Voice by Suzanne Dunlap

-Ready or Not by Cara Bastone

-The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

-Spindle’s End by Robin McKinley

MORE THINGS I'M LOVING THIS SPRING

Note: I discuss all these more in length in the podcast, this is more for reference.

-Shows: Queen Charlotte. Basically I'm biding my time til Bridgerton Season 3 is released, and I'm so glad I finally saw this side series. It's a little spicy and a little sad at times, but I so enjoyed it.

Nesting/Home Updates: Aside from new house renovations and collecting things for the nursery!

-Strawberry Pound Cake candle (I also like the hand cream)

Recipes/Food:

-the new Starbucks iced oat milk matcha with lavender cold foam. I'm not a huge Starbucks drinker, but this drink has a hold on me.

-I made the best chicken soup ever adding a lemon, parmesan rind, white wine and pesto. These are the 4 tenets of next-level soup in my opinion.

-I improvised some protein Reese’s eggs for this Easter week, but found a recipe that was basically the same measurements. Delicious!

Baking: This spring is for focaccia (I'm hoping to make several with different spring veggie toppings) and hot cross buns (for Easter Sunday!). Hopefully this spring is a big

Things to do/Activities:

-Strawberry picking

-Visiting a flower/tulip farm

-Bird watching

-Going on an old fashioned picnic

-(Finally) going to the local farmer’s market

Looking forward to so much green!

This Week’s Little Joy: I hosted a small "PowerPoint Party" with some friends last week, and we all presented on a topic that we're passionate about. It was an easy, fun way to learn more about different subjects and about each other! I highly recommend and will definitely be doing it again.

What I’m Listening To: Jacob Collier “Djesse Vol. 4.” This is a true masterwork, just please listen to it. I know I'm going to remember being pregnant with this baby whenever I listen to it, so I can tell it's going to be extra special.

Thank you so much for listening! Feel free to leave a comment, or head to Apple Podcasts to leave a star rating or review. If you have any suggestions for future episodes, send an email in the contact form on this site. I’d love to hear from you, and I'll be back in two weeks!
